Sister Anne McDaid

Sister Anne passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, 29th January 2006, at Foyle Hospice, after a long illness.

Born in Derry and educated at Loreto Convent, Coleraine, Anne joined the Loreto Order in 1954. She taught in Coleraine and went on to become principal of Loreto Convents in Wexford, Rathfarnham and Omagh. In 1994, Sister Anne came to Loreto House, Linsfort to realise her long-held dream of establishing a Centre for Peace and Reconciliation there. Her tireless work over the years brought about beautiful development of the house and grounds, creating a warm, welcoming haven for people from all over the world.

Sr Anne is survived by her brother Fr Henry (Alabama), her sister Marjorie (London), brother-in-law Tony, nephew Ben and niece Rionach, cousins Sheila, Ciaran and Eoin Higgins (Derry) and Anne Joyce & family (Derry) She will be missed by her extended family of friends in Derry, Omagh, Buncrana and the Loreto Community.
